Nyerere National Park

Boat safaris and a quieter side of Tanzania.

About Nyerere National Park

Nyerere National Park, created in 2019 from the northern part of the former Selous Game Reserve, protects a vast area of woodland, grassland and river systems in southern Tanzania. The Rufiji River and its lakes are the heart of the park.

Boat safaris offer a very different perspective, bringing you close to hippos, crocodiles, elephants coming to drink and a rich variety of water birds. Walking safaris and game drives are also possible.

Nyerere feels remote and uncrowded, which makes it a good choice for repeat visitors or anyone looking for a quieter experience.
