African elephants live in herds led by an older female. Herds are most visible in the dry season, when they gather along rivers for water.
Tarangire is famous for its elephants, and you will also see them in Lake Manyara, Ngorongoro and the Serengeti. Keep a calm, respectful distance and follow your guide's advice if a herd is on the move.
